Q: I have sufficient funds. Why was my card declined?
A: Currently, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card or a debit card with the Visa or MasterCard logo on it. We do not
accept prepaid/gift cards or international cards. If your card was declined and it was not a prepaid/gift or international card, it may be due to the billing address and card ID not matching with the information your financial institution has on file
or there were not enough funds to perform a successful authorization.
Q: My address is correct, why was my credit card declined?
A: We recommend contacting your bank or credit card company and confirm that they have the correct billing
address. Please also inquire if they distinguish between "billing address" and "statement address," as some banks do have both, and could be providing us with the wrong address. We require the billing address.
Questions about the science behind
Q: How do Anti-Aging Games work?
A: Anti-Aging Games™ are designed to stimulate brain activity using easy and fun games. Our games focus on five areas of brain activity
adults commonly wish to improve: immediate memory, short-term memory, speed-of-information processing, attention to detail (also known as focus and concentration), and problem solving. Anti-Aging Games are crafted by top video game designers to ensure
they grab your interest and keep you coming back. After all, the more you play, the more you learn!
Our games are designed by Nolan Bushnell, Founder of Atari and a team of the best scientists we could find.
Q: What is brain plasticity?
A: Plasticity is the brain's ability to change and function better with experience. Neuroscientists used to believe that humans steadily lose brain
cells during the aging process. But newer evidence strongly suggests the brain is actually capable of learning, developing new skills, and perhaps actually adding new brains cells throughout adult life. This is great news if you want to keep your
brain in shape- start now to keep your brain in shape!
Q: I've heard that cognitive stimulation may delay Alzheimer's disease. Does Anti-Aging Games prevent or delay Alzheimer's?
A: No. No brain-fitness game can currently
claim to prevent or delay Alzheimer's. Be very wary of any service that claims otherwise because it will take decades of long-term studies to even begin to show the validity of such claims. Anti-Aging Games plans to participate in testing that assesses
whether brain-fitness games can actually help prevent disease, but it will take long-term studies to prove there is a clear preventative effect for any program.
Q: What research supports that cognitive exercises work? What is the ACTIVE study?
A: Multiple studies have suggested that people who are more mentally active
are less likely to develop aging-related cognitive loss or Alzheimer's disease. The Advanced Cognitive Training for Independent and Vital Elderly Study was the first long-term, large-scale study to illustrate the benefits of cognitive exercise for
older adults. The study showed that brain exercises resulted in long-lasting positive effects that included offsetting mental decline and maintaining cognitive abilities needed for every day tasks. Other short-term research studies have shown that
training in cognitive exercises can result in improved thinking skills and better daily functioning.
Q: Are these brain games good for people who have strokes, brain trauma, and/or brain injuries?
A: Some people playing our games have told us they think that
our brain games and relaxation tools helped them recover their memory and focus faster but results will vary. The impact, if any, really depends on the type, location, and degree of brain injury. You are welcome to try our brain games and relaxation
tools and see for yourself if they help you. You can also show the system to your doctor or other health professional and ask them if they can recommend specific games that will practice the skills you need to train. If any game causes discomfort,
please stop playing. If your doctor has questions for us, he or she is welcome to email us or call us at the number below. If you have improvements because of our games, please let us know - we love hearing success stories! You can email us at feedback@
If you cannot afford brain games, please email us or give us a call at 1-800-675-5179 and tell us the monthly price you can afford. Our call center is open 24 hours per day. We have a pay-what-you-can policy because we think that everyone who
wants to play brain games should be able to regardless of finances.
Q: Are these brain games good for people who have Alzheimer's or dementia?
A: No, unfortunately it's really hard for people Alzheimer's and dementia to follow
directions from one screen to the next so it may be frustrating for them to play brain games. They might enjoy our Relax tool if you set it up for them. We also recommend playing their favorite songs from their youth because some people with Alzheimer's
and dementia really enjoy hearing music they recognize.
Q: Wasn't there a study that said that brain fitness games don't work?
A: Those weren't our games. It would be like asking Mercedes about the safety ratings of
a different car manufacturer. The study published by Nature also had significant flaws. We continually test
and evaluate our games internally to make sure they are performing up to our standards and the system's transparency allows you to see your own scores easily so that you know whether the games are working for you or not. This point causes considerable
outrage from the judges during the business plan contest: they were exasperated and asked, "Why would you show people that the games aren't working for them?!" Our answer: "It's the right thing to do. If the games aren't working for
you, then you should know so that you can spend your time and money elsewhere. We want customers who find real value in our games." We ended up winning the business plan contest and a number of people told us that they liked our common-sense
approach to business.
Q: How many studies have been completed on your program?
A: None. We just got going. We are currently in beta-testing, and are busy making sure all our games are
exciting enough to hold your attention. As soon as internal testing is complete, we will launch formal, randomized and controlled studies that strictly follow ethical research guidelines. Our approach is promising, partly because the power of the
internet lets you recruit a lot of volunteers in a very short time. Again, we have two completely different goals. First, we want to do trials to see whether people who play our games get a benefit in thinking abilities over a few months. That doesn't
just mean getting better at our games! It means transferring that new ability so that you are also getting better at other cognitive tasks. But frankly, that first goal is less important. Our second goal--our real purpose--is to do long term trials.
We really need to find out whether, say three years down the line, people who play our games are better off than people who use the Internet without playing on brain stimulation sites. THAT would mean something.
Q: Are you really against aging?
A: No, aging is a perfectly normal part of life. It takes a person from the busy career and family building times toward a time
of life when we usually have more wisdom, judgement, better emotional regulation, perspective, integrative thinking and many other valuable capacities. In fact, throughout human history, older people have always played absolutely vital roles in the
well being of their societies.
What we're against is unnecessary or accelerated aging of the brain. More and more evidence shows that some aspects of brain aging can be reduced or prevented through lifestyle choices. We're in favor of choices that lead to optimal brain aging. We want you to be functioning at your mental peak for as long as humanly possible.
Q: Are you affiliated with the American Institute for Anti-Aging or the AntiAging Institute?
A: No. We are entirely independent, private company with ties to neither
of those institutes. We're a group of friends who want to build fun and effective brain stimulation games. We want to discover what works best, then make that available. We want to play some small role in solving the massive public health problem
of aging-related mental decline. In addition, we plan to use 20% of our pre-tax profits to improve lives around the world through carefully screened nonprofit partners. We don't expect this to be quick or easy. We are committed to investing all the
time, effort, and brain power it takes. Luckily, we have access to some amazing talent- Nolan Bushnell as Chief Game Visionary and a team of the best neurobehavioral experts we could find.
Q: Can I invest in your company?
A: No, but thanks for offering. We are an independent, private company and prefer to stay that way. If you'd like to find cool
socially responsible company's to invest in check out sites like profounder.com and prosper.com (We're not owners of either one of those) or approach your nearest business school and if they have any social entrepreneuers.
Q: What is social entrepreneurship?
A: It's simply doing good things and doing well at the same time. It involves not putting profits and shareholder value as
the be-all and end-all. It's putting humanity above financial considerations and having big positive impact on the world.
Q: What is generalization and do your games generalize?
A: "Generalization" is simply the ability to take a skill and apply it elsewhere. For instance,
if you have fun playing a pizza-making memory game, we hope it will also make it easier to remember shopping lists or names of friends. That's what our games are designed to do. Yes, our early users have reported that playing our games has resulted
in various benefits including better concentration, improved memory for names and phone numbers, and faster reaction times in day-to-day life. But it is far too soon to say that these benefits are real or lasting. That's why we are committed
to doing scientific studies to see whether the games help, which ones help most, and what they can actually do for you.
Q: How often do I have to play?
A: We recommend at least two, thirty minutes sessions a week in order to see results. But there is no reason to stop there. Our
games were all designed to keep you engaged and excited over the long haul. The more you play, the more potential impact our games can offer. It is recommended that you play no more than one hour per day. Take a walk, volunteer, laugh with good friends,
learn a new instrument or language… of these things are good for your brain too!
